How to write an amount in words
Cheques, invoices and contracts often require the amount in words so it can’t be altered. Write the whole number in words, then the cents, for example “One thousand two hundred fifty dollars and fifty cents”.
Compound numbers from twenty-one to ninety-nine take a hyphen (“forty-two”). This converter does not add “and” after hundreds (“one hundred one”), which is the usual style on cheques.
